The Champions Program was adopted in 1997 to support children's hospitals and young children who have shown great courage while facing pediatric cancer. Through their courage and positive attitudes, these children have set an example to other children and adults facing very challenging times. Michael J. Arias became the first Every Kid Counts' Champion in 1998. Michael exhibited the spirit of a true Champion and, because of this, the program was renamed in his honor. Michael's body succumbed to the neuroblastoma cancer on October 6, 1999, but, during his short life, he touched the lives of thousands of children and adults across the country. Michael will always live in our memory as a true Champion. Michael is highlighted on our Water Bottle Labels and you can take part in his club program to support kids of all ages and backgrounds, as well as those who are facing the challenges that Michael and his family endured. Check out our Water Club Program and become a part of a winning team. Recently, EKC, in conjunction with our Michael J. Arias Water Club Program, teamed up with our friends at the Phoenix Children's Hospital with the development of our news club and retail 20 oz. water label to support the families through their challenging times.
