To prevent a child from committing an act from ever happening allows for the opportunity of growth to occur without damage to that child. Weather it is drugs, alcohol or tobacco, kids face ever struggling challenges to resist the temptations that present themselves every where they turn. Through prevention and continued positive reinforcement, we can turn the tide and educate our youth to make the right choices when it comes to their actions and their future.
To tell a child not to do something only leads them to wonder why. To give them clear choices and guide them, leads them to make the best choice for themselves. This is the belief of all those who participate in our drug prevention and intervention programs.
It does not take a rocket scientist to figure out that education is the key to making better choices throughout all of our lives. As adults we have to be more cognizant to our actions when we are in the presence of youth. They will do as we do and speak as we speak. Remember this next time you around a child.
