Summer Youth Work Program

Introduction

This program is designed to provide high school students the opportunity to assist Every Kid Counts with its fundraising while learning responsibility and job related skills, while receiving compensation for their efforts.

Description

Every Kid Counts is dedicated to helping today’s youth become tomorrow’s leaders. Keeping this in mind, the summer work program gives local teenagers the chance to do some good for their community and helping Every Kid Counts and our programming efforts. The majority of work being done will be to manage information booths at events Every Kid Counts is involved with. In addition, the students will supply support for EKC special events over the course of the summer selling Every Kid Counts Natural Artesian Spring Water and other products other community based programs that come along that benefit the charity.

The money raised at these events go towards the programming supported by Every Kid Counts. The salaries the workers receive are paid for by local businesses and grants received by Every Kid Counts.

Work Training Sessions

During the course of the summer, Every Kid Counts requires each participant in the Summer Youth Work Program to attend helpful Work Training Sessions. These are the learning seminars which make the entire program worthwhile. These consist of four-two hour sessions with local business leaders. The Sessions will cover such topics as the correct way to fill out applications and build resumes, preparation for the job market, marketable job skills and business ethics and appearance.

The program has room for up to 15 high school age children. Any more than this and the training sessions loose their impact and one-on-one ability. The entire program is designed to provide children with the opportunity to learn marketable skills and responsibility while keeping them off the streets and out of trouble over the summer months.
